Perched high on a finger ridge of the Eastern Continental Divide, in a gorgeous pristene area of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Kilkelly's luxurious CABIN provides amazing long-range views, fully comparable to those seen from nearby Blue Ridge Parkway overlooks. In this unique 22-acre setting, you are surrounded by tall mountains and deep valleys, while privately nestled among flowers and gardens. Privacy was key in locating the CABIN. It is several hundred yards down the ridge from the Main House, out of sight and sound. And there are no other buildings or dwellings within sight or sound.

The remarkable long-range and layered views from the CABIN are seen from a high and vaulted prospective, extending over 100 miles across natural, undisturbed woodlands and fields! Sunrises and sunsets are varied and magnificent. It's also a perfect place to experience dramatic weather changes and cloud formations -- above you and below! And at night, it's a star gazer's dream! With no city lights, the stars are bright and plentiful (we furnish binoculars). And there are no highways nearby, or traffic noise to interfere with orchestral sounds of nature. And WOW, we have NO MOSQUITOES! Kind of a mountain paradise.

The CABIN itself is a custom 1600 SF, upscale cedar log home. It has two King bedroom suites, two pull-out sofas, two full baths, a fully appointed and stocked kitchen, a large gas grill, comfortable dining for six (inside and out), fine living room couches and swivel-rocker chairs, and a stone gas fireplace. There is a small pantry, lots of cabinet space, a game room with an indoor shuffleboard, and four wide-screen HD TVs with DVRs and DVDs (one with 3D). On the outside is a covered front porch, and open deck wrap around to an elevated attached gazebo, a lower patio with lounge chairs, hammocks, and swings. We also have outdoor play areas and equipment for children and adults, including a 45-foot rope swing, a standard swing set, a regulation horse shoe pit, and a stone fire pit. And of course, many adjacent and nearby walking trails, streams, and cascades.

The Blue Ridge Parkway entrance at Bamboo Gap is only 1/3 mile from the CABIN, and Boone and Blowing Rock are just minutes away. Mileage distances: Boone downtown 5mi.; Blowing Rock downtown 8mi.; Appalachian Ski Mtn. 6mi.; Hawksnest Tubing & Zip Line Resort 18mi.; dSugar Mtn. Ski Resort 22mi.; Beech Mtn. Perfect Mountain Getaway
This cabin was more than we could have hoped for. It is in a perfect location and the views were stunning. Although we didn’t cook a lot, the kitchen has everything you could possibly need. The wildlife was on display - so entertaining. If you’re looking for a “10” getaway, this cabin is for you!

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Kilkelly Cabin. We've stayed in some spectacular VRBO locations around the world, and this ranks right up with the best. On top of the views, the cabin is well- furnished and quite comfortable. Once you're oriented, there's really pretty easy access to Boone and Blowing Rock, plus great access to the Blue Ridge Parkway. The owners Joanie and Gary are great. We had a dead car battery, and Gary came down from the house to give me a jump start. Hoping to return some day.

Unforgettable Views
In our past trips to the Boone area, we have never stayed at the same place twice (descriptions/pictures turned out to be misleading, poor views, etc.). The Kilkellys' cabin is everything you see in the listing, and more! The home is well laid out, the furniture is sturdy and comfortable, it was very clean and definitely not rundown. We spent a majority of our time on the patio gazing out at the mountain views, and watching the variety of birds that came to the feeders. Kilkellys is definitely a place to get away from it all, but not feel like you're roughing it. Also, the owners were very responsive in answering any questions we had. As I mentioned at the beginning, we've never stayed the same place twice before, but that won't be the case with the Kilkelly cabin. We will definitely return.

We’ll be back!!
This was awesome. The location is super private and peaceful, but with an amazing view. All things I look for in a mountain cabin. Fully stocked kitchen, which helps when you cook most of your meals! The gas fireplace was awesome. Every part of the cabin and all the furniture was well built/high quality. The 45 foot swing on the property was a nice treat! I could go on and on, but you just need to book it and see for yourself. Leave us some room to come back, though. Great place!

What a great place to stay!
My goodness what a nice location this is! The folks managing the property were kind and responsive. The location is secluded enough that you feel separated from the hustle and bustle of the rest of the world, while still being just a 15 minute drive from downtown Boone. I do suggest arriving in an AWD/4WD vehicle if it's been snowing, but that's my blanket advice for anyone visiting the mountains during winter. The cabin is beautiful, second only to the views. Plenty of spots to just sit and relax–in front of the fireplace, on the adjustable gazebo porch swing, or in front of an enormous window overlooking the valley. The first day was crisp and clear. The second day it was very foggy, which created a very cool atmosphere around the cabin. It gave us a chance to try out the downstairs shuffleboard table, watch a few movies on the living room TV, and curl up in front of the large fireplace in the living room. I recently took a remote job with an employer in Boone that'll require me to visit on-site several times a year. Part of my motivation booking here was to see if my wife and I could find a place we could love coming back to over and over. I think we've found it!

Immaculate New Years Stay
We rented this cabin for a post Christmas/New Years stay as a group of 5 friends and it was hands down the best experience we have ever had with a rental property. The cabin was better than we expected. The stunning views from the giant living room window and porch, the comfort and provided necessities, the close location to downtown Boone and Blowing Rock while still feeling like you were completely secluded. Everything about the property and our stay was everything we wanted and more. We cannot recommend this cabin enough! Book your dream cabin stay NOW!!

A lovely home
We have stayed at a lot of vacation homes over the years, and this is surely one of the best of them! Pictures don’t really do the home justice; the view is stunning. The hosts were wonderful and did a great job of equipping the rental. We love to cook and were thrilled to find that the kitchen had all of the tools you’d need to make a meal. The location was also fantastic. You could be on the Blue Ridge Parkway within minutes, and in Boone or Blowing Rock in 10-15 minutes. We had such a fantastic stay and would love to return if we’re in the area again!
