About the Bessemer/Ironwood Area:
You will be located in the center of ski country. The shuttle is available in the winter to take you the half mile to Big Powderhorn Mountain Resort. You're also a short distance from Blackjack Mountian and Indianhead Mountian Ski Resorts.

Snowmobilers and ATVers are less than 2 miles from Trail #2, which will take you east further into Michigan's beautiful Upper Peninsula, or west into the Northwoods of Wisconsin.

You're located only 6 miles from Copper Peak Ski Flying Hill. There are only six in the northern hemisphere and this is the only one in the United States. It is in the process of being restored and will be hosting international events within the next few years in addition to be used as a training facility for Olympic caliber athletes. Now it hosts the Red Bull 400, a grueling uphill foot race that brings international competitors to the area the second Saturday in May. The Saturday after Labor Day it hosts the Copper Peak Trails Mountain Bike Race that uses the terrain of Copper Peak to provide a challenging course for even the most experienced rider.

Gogebic county offers over 90 waterfalls with trails ranging from beginner/handicap accessible to "experienced hiker." You are also located less than an hour from the entrance to the Porcupine Mountains (Porkies), and less that two hours from the Bayfield/Apostle Islands area. There are three casinos are less than an hour away (Bad River Casino, Northern Casino, and Lake of the Torches Casino).

Your location puts you within 5 minutes of the local hospital, Walmart, grocery store, and gas stations, but no where near the hustle and bustle of highways and crowds.

A short walk down the hill will bring you to the Black River Valley Crossing and a good fishing spot.

As a bonus you are about 100 yards away from the highly-rated Black River Valley Pub. A local eatery since 1978 open 4 evenings a week featuring one of the best fish frys in the area with the largest variety of fish entrees within 40 miles, along with prime rib on Saturday nights. During the winter ski season there is usually live entertainment on Fridays and/or Saturdays in the evening.

We're dog friendly and look forward to having you stay with us!

Great getaway in a cozy cabin
Had a lovely 10 night stay in this little cabin. Jerry, the host, was very responsive (even when we idiotically managed to lock ourselves out—don’t do that!!). This cabin is a bit rustic, which is perfect for the charming rural atmosphere. The internet was stellar — I note that because I saw another review that said it was going out, but I worked every day for 10 hours over a VPN, including Skype calls, and it did great. The downstairs TV box does seem to restart itself every fifteen minutes or so, though, but I think that has nothing to do with the wifi. The property had clearly been cleaned before we arrived. We don’t have a dog, but wouldn’t have known this was a pet friendly property if the listing hadn’t said it. We managed to pick a very hot week up in the area, but the window AC in the upstairs bedroom kept us plenty cool overnight. Wish we could’ve tried the fish place next door but I think they were closed until autumn, but lots of other places in the area did Friday fish fries, so I recommend the VFW in Wakefield if you can’t go to the pub next door! All in all a great stay!

Great place to stay
Cabin itself exceeded our expectations! Inside was clean and well maintained. Air conditioner in each room. Outside of property was nice. A very quiet area. About an hour to the porcupine mtns, maybe 20 minutes to Wisconsin. Other attractions very close as well. We would definitely like to come back.

Nice place but had some issues
The owner called us asked us if we could make beds, the house keeper hhad to leave unexpectedly. Upon arriving the house was a complete mess, food reminants all over, dog hair inches thick all over floor, furnture and the beds. Contacted owner and sent picks. The owner was very apologetic and tried everything to get someone to clean cabin but it was so bad he needed to hire a company. The owner refunded our money in a timely matter and offered to put us up in a motel for a night. At least he stood by knowing things were not rightand teied to make it right. That didnt help our dilemma of now not having a olace to stay 4 hours from home. We did recieve payment back and last we talked to owner he was sending a check for the vbro charges as well, hope he follows through as VBRO was not willing to help us one bit. VBRO customer service is terrible and would not help us find a replacment stay location.

Disappointing stay
Was not cleaned prior to our arrival at all. I had to clean the bathroom, wash my own bedding and scrub down the kitchen before I felt comfortable using them. The beds creaked so bad every time anyone moved so being the light sleeper that I am, I did not get more than a couple hours sleep at night. Checked under the bed while we packed up to make sure we had everything and horrified by what we found - balled up tissues, dust bunnies and what looked like dried dog puke. We tried to vacuum before we left, but had to clean it out first. It was so disappointing that we packed up a day early and left. We also felt like the neighbors across the street were watching us a lot. Things we did enjoy - being close to Bessemer and Ironwood - cute towns with good food options, having a campfire outside and being close to the Black River waterfalls. Jerry was friendly and had good communication over text.

Great spot for doggos!
Our dogs loved the yard and home comfort of the cabin. Very close to quite a few waterfalls, the harbor and the Copper Peak ski jump. Awesome to bike from to all those spots or hike. Highly recommend if you have dogs. Sad we didn't get to try the pub next door, but we will next time!

Cozy & Dog-friendly
This is a cozy little cabin which we selected because of the location and dog-friendly policy. It is a great value, although it does sit on a fairly busy road so you need to have very well-behaved dogs or keep them on a leash. The linens were clean and it had everything we needed. We appreciated having dinner at the pub next door when we arrived after a long drive.

Nice northwoods place to stay
Cozy yet plenty of space for two. Several light switches didn't seem to do anything - perhaps bulbs burned out but we made do. Lots of coffee makers, but wish there would've been a kettle to boil water for tea, etc. Internet and cable tv was a bit flaky, losing signal several times a show. Shower water controller was corroded making it challenging to get the right water temp (not too hot or cold). Minor concerns for an overall nice experience.

The Perfect Little Getaway This Winter
Everything about this rental was so easy. We loved our mini vacation here with our dogs! The fire pit in the side yard was perfect for a relaxing evening, with ample firewood supplied by the hosts. The dogs had a BLAST here, we were able to easily hook them up on simple running lines to the benches and trees close by so they weren't tempted to go to the road or too far into the beautiful forest after dark. Our little dog struggled with the semi-steep stairway to the upstairs beds, but we easily solved this by hunkering down on the large comfortable futon sofa in the main-level living room. There is plenty of extra linen, pillows, and blankets available too. The host was very kind and helpful, and the house had games and books relating to activities and sightseeing nearby which was great! We would have loved to visit the pub that is less than a minute's walk away, and will have to plan to come back during its business days!
