When booking, the website improperly locates the house on West Hill Road, next to the Trailside Condos. In actuality, the property is about 5 MILES AWAY on Rt 100S. You don’t find out the actual address until your stay comes closer, and even then you would have to catch that the address seems off and map it. If we would have known that the property was 5 miles away, we would not have booked. Once realized, it was too late to make a change.
The house is nice, clean, and what we expected based on past rentals and the price. Yes it needs work, but livable. The beds, pillows, and blankets were comfy, and there was plenty of linens. Great views, plenty of firewood (Bring a Lighter), enough hot water for all of us, all bedrooms are nice along with the overall living space. Plenty of heat with heated floors which was nice. Game room in the basement is nice with a big screen tv, Foosball, and Pool Table. We spent most of our time in the basement.
A few things that really bothered us (beside not being where it was advertised) was the broken dishwasher, the Wifi barely worked, and the massive size ants. We make big breakfasts in the morning and cook every night so we developed a lot of dirty dishes. Washing dishes did get annoying and time consuming. Not something you want to be doing on your vacation. For the Wifi, I fault Dish Network so it is most likely out of their control. The signal was strong from the router but nothing behind it. Unless they only pay for the slowest network speed, who knows. I guess the weather may also affect it. Best bet is to bring a mobile hotspot like we did, expecting poor internet. The ants are huge and EVERYWHERE, including my bed where I woke up with an ant crawling on me. Some past reviews are accurate with the broken items like exhaust fans not working, old broken furniture, broken fireplace tools, toaster doesn’t popup but works, Spitting showerheads. Again, these are not deal breakers since we could still use them. Just a nuisance. Yes, the pool table had a big rip in it, and someone did do a crappy job fixing it, but we found a roll of painter’s tape and fixed it up so we can at least play with little interference. The dryer did not dry the clothes in a single cycle and after some investigating, found the exhaust hose broken and compressed so the moisture was able to vent. After a quick fix it worked better, not great since it looks like it vents under the rear deck which is fully covered in snow.
