Welcome to Casa Esperanza. Casa Esperanza is a stunning 2000 sq ft custom pine log home. Upon entering through the main door, you will be wowed by the two-story ceilings and “W” trusses. The main living area is open-concept with a dining room, great room, and chef’s kitchen surrounding a two-story, double-sided stone gas fireplace. Four skylights and a two-story floor-to-ceiling wall of windows brighten the main living area and provide magnificent views overlooking the woods and mountains.
The chef’s kitchen includes a microwave, oven, fridge, trash compactor, dishwasher, InSinkErator – small tank boiling water tap, and five-burner gas cooktop. The dining room has an antique table with seating for six and an area to prepare drinks. A 55” smart TV in the great room offers Sling, Peacock, and Netflix. Other electronics available are a DVD player, USB charging station, and docking station connected to Bose speakers for your smartphone or iPod. Should you decide that disconnecting from the world is not for you, we do have high-speed WiFi. Cell phone service is spotty at best, so we offer a landline phone for emergency use. We find that WhatsApp is best for texting.
The house includes one master bedroom and two guest bedrooms. The master bedroom has a king bed and an adjoining master bathroom with a two-person shower and bidet. Each guest bedroom has a queen bed, and both share a full bathroom with two pedestal sinks and a shower/tub combo. The house also features a pantry/mud/laundry room with sink, extra pantry storage, and a Miele washer and dryer. Four vehicles can easily park at the top of the driveway (back-in turn around at the top).
Casa Esperanza is located in Madison, Virginia—only two hours from D.C. and northern Virginia—the perfect long weekend getaway. The house is on two acres of wooded land overlooking the Shenandoah National Park—directly across from Jones Mountain. Charlottesville and the UVA campus are only 27 miles away, with lots of shopping, antiquing, and dining along the way. Massanutten is less than an hour away. There are several golf courses close to Casa Esperanza if you prefer a more manicured hike.
Hiking trailheads are a short 10-minute drive, including an entrance into the Shenandoah National Park along the Rapidan River. If you prefer something less vigorous, like lifting a glass of wine, Early Mountain Vineyards is only a 15-minute drive, and many other wineries are only 30 minutes away.
If you prefer even less activity and the comfort of your PJs, Casa Esperanza has all the comforts of home and lots of places to lounge on the upper and lower decks. The upper deck has oversized swivel chairs, a gas fire pit, a chiminea, and a large gas grill. The lower deck and open log gazebo have a Scan wood stove, hammock, and outdoor chairs. The deck overlooks the Shenandoah National Park—perfect for birdwatching, sunsets, stargazing, or spying the ever-elusive Sasquatch.
VERY IMPORTANT:
Location: Casa Esperanza is located in a gravel road community. Our driveway is also gravel and steep. 4x4, AWD, or front-wheel drive is highly recommended.
Insects: Keep in mind that we are in the mountains and that means bugs and wildlife. We pay for pest control, but that doesn't mean zero insects. Trash/recycling must be kept in the garage to prevent wildlife visitations.
Security: Security cameras face the driveway and front door entry.
Resident Pets: We have a pet cat and dog. Every effort will be made to ensure that the house is free of pet hair, but we cannot guarantee an allergen-free environment.
