I really loved our stay at this lodge. Staff was friendly and helpful, even though you could tell some of them were ready for the season to be over. Obviously, it's in a stunning location, and I cannot get enough of the NP lodges. Of note, I saw a lot of negative reviews regarding the food. The night we stayed, it was buffet only, and everything I had was delicious.
Was really looking forward to revisiting this grand hotel, but found that the room was in pretty poor shape. I'll acknowledge that we visited at end of season and that may be part of the reason things were in disrepair, but simple cleaning was missing and most importantly, the room's condition (carpets, walls, etc...) were sorely in need of attention. Would recommend stopping to see this once great property, but it is not worth the high cost to stay there.
This property is dated, so much so that they haven't really changed it since it was built in 1904.
Bed was a folding junk bed frame and very uncomfortable. Room did not feal secure, door frame was broken, deadbolt didn't work, window locks did not work.
Lights in room were dim, felt like were shoved in a closet in the basement.
The room was worth maybe $50-80 a night not $440.
Historic and beautiful, primitive in some aspect but elegant in most.

Disliked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Wife overheard cleaning crew saying they will run vacuum cleaners in halls outside rooms to intentionally wake guests. I realize the hotel is a national treasure and inside a park but for the price of the rooms I expected cleaner rooms.
We loved our Old Faithful Inn experience. Such a cool historic hotel. We sat out and watched Old Faithful go off as well as some shooting stars. Wonderful enviroment and exoerience.

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Total mixed bag. Old portion of the inn is charming, unique, and period appropriate upscale rustic, where as this “new” wing was tragically plain old tired. Needs a major refresh but super convenient to the park amenities. Adjacent old section of the inn is highly recommend for enjoying the park as the architects intended.
Beautiful period details and architecture in the old section of the inn. Cozy, quiet, and comfy rooms never too far from a well designed, clean, shared bathroom. No en-suite bath but the shared bath thing was no issue. Our room did have a 1900s style brass sink in it for added convenience. Geyser views from the windows and howling wolf serenades late at night. Experience the park like it was meant to be experienced. Skip the “new” wing, they have en-suite baths but everything there needs a major refresh.
We were in the old lodge, so the room is small, but beautiful with the old Log walls shared bathroom not a problem our room open to old faithful. We could see the northern lights. Staff is super friendly. Sit down dinner was way overpriced.
