Union Bluff is situated in a serene and jaw-dropping area next to the beach of the Gulf of Maine. The main hotel is very dated. The carpeting, doors, bathroom tiles and furniture are from the 1960s or 70s. There were old, large (2 ft in diameter) oil stains on the carpeting in front of the elevator on our floor. The bedding had an odor of sweat mixed with strong bleach. The great things are that the staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. The room had everything we needed-a bed and a bathroom. There's a restaurant on the first floor. The lobby was decorated beautifully for Christmas. The location was in Cape Neddick about a mile away from the Nubble lighthouse.

We enjoyed having a balcony and wonderful ocean view all weekend. Not a big fan of the Union Bluff Pub restaurant. Too loud, food was bland, out of a lot of items due to how busy they were but in a good way! Good for them and the business they were bringing in. Parking is not great. (There was also a wedding) keep that in mind.

Pros: -The property is set on a lovely piece of ocean front with a wide sandy beach and an expansive view of the horizon. We enjoyed a lovely sunny day on the deck chairs set in front of the beach and some stormy days watching the ocean waves roll in. -The room was of average upkeep and cleanliness. -The beds were comfortable and the shower had good pressure. - The Pub and restaurant have good food and drink. - The hotel is very well situated and the surrounding area is beautiful. Cons: - A key thing to know is that the main, large building you see in the ads online is one of two buildings that make up this hotel. I assumed from the ads that we would have a room in the large building directly on the oceanfront. Unfortunately we got a room in the building next door with sub par views and more of a 'motel' feel. If you want to stay in the large main building with the better views that you see in the ads and on Expedia, be sure to ask for that. - The carpet was tired and the drapes in front of the sliding doors were torn and old. - There was a leak in the bathroom sink that soiled the towels. - The food at the pub and in the whole town was expensive.

The room was advertised as ocean front, it faced a bowling alley. The room had no chairs, table or closet. it was tiny and shabby. the bathroom was barely big enough to stand in and the toilet was rocking back and forth - not connected to the floor securely. We complained to the manager and he just shrugged. We left early even tho we could not get a refund as it was so repulsive, ugly and completely misrepresented.

We spent 5 beautiful September days at Union Bluff. Since it was off season, the area was quiet, exactly what we were hoping for. Our room was oceanfront with a wonderful balcony perfect for reading or just watching the waves roll in. There was a nice selection of food for breakfast and in the pub that was very good and well-prepared. UB is definitely on the list for a return visit.
