Best deal on Lake Superior
Great spot on Lake Superior! Very dog friendly. We stayed in the motel and loved that it had a nice little deck off the back to watch the lake. Will definitely come back.

Not as clean as one would like. No coffee provided in the motel with no suggestions of what one should bring or be responsible for. The room was cold even when the heater was turned up to 75. Noisy with neighbors slamming doors, could hear conversations. Ambiance OK - looking out over the Lake was nice. Bathroom very small & not updated. Not sure I'd want to stay here again.

I really enjoyed the area, being so close to the lake was really nice. The accomodations were a little rustic but the price was nice for such a pretty view. Our trip was in the winter but I bet it's idyllic in the summer.

Such an amazing property, feels like home. We bought 10 jugs of maple syrup and woke up to the sunrise and slept like a baby to the sounds of the great Gitch Gami !! Incredible we will book now so we can come back next summer. They said it is often booked 1 year in advance.

Good Value but not such a pleasant stay
We got a really good deal on the room, but the room was in quite a bit of repair. The bed was the worst as it was lumpy and I couldn’t sleep well. The heat did not work but the space heaters did provide enough heat. The shower hard to regulate as knob kept falling off. I think I would not return.

Solbakken, A Gift From The Past
Ahh, Minnesota’s North Shore, Lake Superior! Solbakken Resort was cozy, comfortable, and quiet. Part of its charm is being rustic in structure and history! Our room was located in the Lodge with a door that opened up to a patio in full view and sound of the lakes majestic character! This resort aims to please and makes their patrons feel special! We will be returning!

The view was gorgeous. Cute little cozy atmosphere. One suggestion is on the motel doors they really slam. I was trying to read a book on Saturday and the doors just kept slamming and I couldn’t even figure out what it was for the longest time. It’s very startling. Other than that, loved it ❤️

This is a comfy cozy place to stay. Could use a little updating in the rooms, but nothing worth not checking it out for. Staff were great and you are close to grand marais. Would definitely stay here again!
