Cal Expo consists of 18 different venues and commands 350 beautiful acres, and it is also the site of the California State Fair and many city events. In addition to the fairgrounds, you'll find the September 11 Memorial Plaza, Raging Waters Sacramento Water Park, and the newly constructed Bonney Field, one of the largest professional soccer pitches in the United States. For sight-seeing, head 5 miles west to Old Sacramento: "Old Sac," as it's known. The old town itself sits on 28 acres along the Sacramento River, and the old-time shops and restaurants make you feel like you've stepped into a long-ago era. If you're a railroad enthusiast, you will enjoy the California State Railroad Museum; there you can explore Sacramento's rich railroad history and tour some of the restored trains.
