The room was quite dated. It did not smell fresh at any time we were there. It had no facial tissue in the room that one normally finds in a hotel/motel. The single ply bath tissue was so cheap and very poor quality. The room was very dark, even when all the lights were turned on. The bed was comfortable but only a mattress sheet, that did not fit well, a cover sheet and a thin bedspread. I was cold during the night. The free breakfast was of poor quality and selection. The coffee was lukewarm at best.

This is definitely not an updated property. Our first room was not good at all. It smelled terrible, and was dirty. I even went and bought my own pillows and blankets as well as air freshners. They did upgrade us to a larger room for the remainder of our stay because we were already paid through the next two nights. Its not somewhere I will stay again.

We really enjoyed our stay at Brookside. This is an older property, but the room was nice and we found it very comfy. We had "queen" beds but they were the smallest queen beds we've seen. Mattresses were very soft, which is just a preference issue. There were three different bears on the property the week we were there, which was a bit disconcerting, but it's the mountains -- you can see bears! Your excitement about this will determine whether or not this property is for you. The staff were uniformly kind and excellent to work with. Having stayed at several Gatlinburg properties, when Brookside is a good value proposition in comparison to similar motels, it's a very good choice. We'll likely come back!
