They will nickel and dime you to death. An additional $30 a day for absolutely nothing is crazy. They charge you to put your luggage in a room while you wait for your room to be ready. We always choose an early flight so we can spend the day doing something and take a late flight leaving. They charge to hold your luggage. They charge if you want to check in early even though your room is ready. They want to charge you to stay an extra 30 minutes in your room even though the staff is busy cleaning other rooms. They need to update the bathrooms. There is no vanity. The lighting is horrible. As a repeat visitor, they gave us the worst view ever.

Oh my gosh! They charge for every little thing! If you want to stay a few minutes later, they want to charge you. If you want to check in early, even though your room is ready they want to charge you. We always take an early flight so that we can spend the entire day doing something in the city. They charge you to just put your bags in a holding area. The additional $30 a day for absolutely nothing is crazy. We love the location, but I’m tired of being nickeled and dimed to death.

Right where you want to be in New York City
When we checked in, Lynn offered us a queen suite upgrade at a reduced additional cost per night. We requested a quiet room with views and she delivered. We were staying 9 nights, so it was very worthwhile having more space to spread out. We love the New Yorker Hotel and have stayed here more than 6 times. It is centrally located close to all subway lines, practically next door to Madison Square Garden and Penn Station, and within walking distance of Times Sq & the theater district. The lobby has a good security presence, the workout room has all the equipment one needs including mats, free weights, and machines, and the TikTok diner is next door and open 24 hours. The beds are comfortable and housekeeping does a top notch job! don't miss the museum in the basement, which has wonderful photos and other memorabilia about the long and illustrious history of this hotel.

I really liked this hotel. They upgraded us at check in without us asking and the staff was super nice. The ticktock restaurant attached to the hotel is 24/7 and the food was great (and affordable)! The area was mint, very convenient for traveling on the subway. The commuter train from EWR went right to Penn station which was only like 18$ one way. Very convenient. Lots of shopping and food right there. Def want to go back!

The staff and customer service were top-level. Every staff member was very helpful and ever so polite. However, the hotel itself seemed a bit run-down. There was a comb left in our room, and the bathroom wasn't in the best condition and was very different from the photos. The location was brilliant, though. It was easy to get around everywhere.

Honestly stay elsewhere. My boyfriend and I came to this hotel and it was a disaster. I get that the hotel is old, but overall not worth staying here. The hotel room was so small I could barely fit our luggages, the bed sheets were quite dirty and stained, only 1 plug worked in the entire room, nobody came to clean our room during our stay, and the window for our mediocre view was extremely dirty and foggy. Positives were the bathroom, the kind front desk staff, and location. Overall very disappointed.
