We had two major issues. First, we drove up from Los Angeles that day. We showed up in the lobby 1 hour and 15 minutes before the check-in time of 4 PM (pretty late you know). The clerk said that our room was ready, but we would have to pay $25 to use it now. Offended by their crass attempt, we told them no and went and had a drink, returning dutifully at 4 PM. Second, we had reserved their best room, facing the ocean. There aren't many. The windows facing the ocean were small and very dirty - impossible to see out in the late afternoon sun. But worse, the room has NO heating! It did have a decorative fireplace with a gas burner, but it took 10 hours to get the room to 65 degrees. Summary: You can do much better, there are many hotels on Moonstone Beach.

Absolutely love this hotel, there’s a fireplace in each room, which brings a comforting ambience to your stay. Conveniently across the street from Moonstone Beach ..My favorite place to stay at in Cambria.

The Fog Catcher hotel was very nice, staff was very helpful and friendly they were there to help us. Room was nice and clean with gas fire place that burned constantly for the beginning of our visit to the end.

We stayed in this place several times throughout the years and just loved it, but this time we’re so disappointed! The room has no charm like before, the bathroom and shower is just ok. The only worse thing about the room is there’s no heater! To heat the room is fire place and you can’t use the fireplace in the evening while you sleep because the light comes from the fireplace is So Bright, so very cold while you sleep. But the best place about the hotel is The location! Wow, right at the beach, beautiful!

This is our second time staying at The FogCatcher. Although it is a little dated, it is a nice place to stay. Comfortable bed and linens.
