Bed is good for me but spouse said didn’t get a good night rest. Hotel seems old but lovely decorated decor in lobby and public areas. Hallway is super narrow - 2 regular size people can’t fit if walking side-by-side. Bathroom has hair on floor from previous guest. Toilet bowl didn’t look so clean. Toilet paper and facial tissues are super rough!! Ugh .. had to get from our car supply to use. Breakfast is average and areas & food are stocked well, looking well-kept by the staff.

So loud, weed smell, pinesol smell, poor service-receptionist was nice once she arrived to the desk after waiting for a long period and requesting assistance from the bar tender who admitted to knowing nothing about reception. Can’t say that I’d ever stay again.

Hotel needs update, bedroom had dirty carpet, bathroom vanity had small cigarette yellow stains, fridge was very old with a microwave sitting on top. It had a smell when you walked in hotel, water had a bad smell. Outside had truck seat and truck canopy on grass. This hotel was nothing like the pictures, not worth the amount of money that I was charged for a two night stay.

Good but could use some tweaks

The floor outside the bathroom was really dirty. The beds and especially the bathrooms towels were comfortable The jacuzzi was out of service. The doors slam shut - so all night long u till 3am doors were literally slamming and people were running up and down the hall and waking us. I tried to call the front desk on the room phone AND by cell phone to the hotel number and couldn’t get through. The decor/ambience is lovely and the breakfast was good but there were 3 large round tables instead of more smaller tables so you have to sit with other families.

Night Club Nightmare!

Crazy story about staying at this hotel in Bloomington Illinois. So all of a sudden at 3am the place turned into a nightclub. Not even sure where it was coming from. Rap music playing at full volume, people yelling and screaming at the top of their lungs. I thought I was dreaming at first, I turned to my wife like what is going on right now! Something out of a movie was going on outside our hotel room. I could smell the marijuana creeping under my room door. It was like I was back in college again! Unbelievable the sounds going on outside the door. I think it might have been coming from the lobby, but not sure. I tried to call the front lobby, but no response whatsoever. I looked up the number online and tried calling it. Same thing, no answer. This lasted from 3am to 4am. It was a $hit show to say the least. The next morning I asked the front desk what was happening last night. She was no help. Didn’t even know what the situation was. No way I was the only one that complained. She was like”oh well, not my problem, I wasn’t working last night”. Should have asked to talk to the manager, but at that point, I just wanted to get out of the place. Didn’t even stay for the breakfast.

Peace in the storm.

I was there for pre-op. It was a horrible night physically and mentally and the staff and the hot tub I was allowed to use a bit late was so amazing of the staff. Still no biopsy results but the tumors are our.

Beautiful hotel, you’d think they could spring for better linens -very cheap and horribly scratchy. Pillows all felt like Little Rock’s under my head, slept very little that night. One more thing, faucet water tasted terrible and was literally un-drinkable, you need to provide bottled water in the room. Otherwise great room.

Out of date... but a sauna!

Classic hotel with out-of-date heating and showerheads. But how many hotels have a sauna? (And a whirlpool.)

Historic property with overwhelming smell of cleaning supplies in our room. Our room was very comfortable with updated bath, bed and HDTV. Did not like that they did not double wrap the blanket top and bottom with sheets though the blanket seemed very clean. Great shopping and restaurants close by (we highly redommend "Jacks" around the corner in Normal). It would be lovely if the owners played up the historic value and had pamphlets about the property's background as it is a really interesting venue that laid vacant for several decades and it is awesome someone is trying to bring it back. There is more work to do and my husband said it felt like is should be in a Steven King novel. That said, I am sensitive to that kind of thing and didn't think it was creepy at all just super interesting. I did find the chandelier location in our room strange -- it was not centered over the bed or in the middle of the room so I can only guess that they may have reconfigured the hall/bath somehow to get more space but forgot to move the fixture? Anyway, if you want a rather mysterious and unique place to visit and if cleaning smells don't bother you, it is a decent value for the price. The free breakfast was fine for a road hotel. I would not necessarily make it a long stay but for a night or two it beats some of the competition. If any of the original flooring is left, I would love to see the carpet removed. I heard the floors were really amazing in their day!
