Perfect location for walking to nearby Chinatown and North Beach areas. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The rooms are nice and updated. I would definitely recommend staying at this hotel.

Pleasantly disappointed.
The place was beautiful, and the location was excellent. However, the service was disappointing—definitely one star. From check-in to dining to check-out, the staff was consistently rude. Would it be too much to ask for a smile and a simple “thank you”? We were excited to try this place, especially after a poor experience at the Westin down the road, but this was no improvement. Unfortunately, we won’t be returning.

We will be back!
You can't beat this location a block up from Union Square and several blocks from China Town. Right on the Trolley line adds to the charm of this gracious and impeccably restored historic hotel. Lots of restaurants around and felt safe. The beds were super comfortable and our room was quiet. The Starlight Bar on the top floor is amazing!

The Beacon Grand was bustling over the holiday weekend, and the hotel looked great with its recent makeover. The rooms retained their historic character, but felt modern and very comfortable as well. The staff were great, and make sure to check out the 360 views from the Starlight lounge on the 21st floor looking out over Union Square and all the vistas of SF.
