Its pretty much what you would expect. Check in took longer than expected but it was not horrible. I do like that this place is pet friendly and has a lot of space in the room with a fire place. The bed was ok and the actual heater was broken but it was acceptable with the fireplace going. I would come back again as it is in a nice location. The vending machines could also be upgraded as they do not accept credit nor did they work with my cash. Overall a good experience and again would gladly come back.

Overall, the Holiday Inn Big Bear Lake is a lovely property in a great setting. The staff on the front desk were very friendly and welcoming. The room was fantastic with a lovely fireplace which made the room feel very cosy. The biggest disappointment for us and the reason for a decreased score, was the fact we paid an additional amount for breakfast online, to find out upon arrival that the hotel does not offer breakfast. The restaurant attached to the hotel was where we were signposted to for breakfast, which I had to pay for again. This was such a shame and it was disappointing that the hotel would advertise a service and take payment for something they are unable to provide. I would highly recommend the property for a room only booking, but would advise against selecting breakfast so that you don’t end up in the same situation we did, paying for breakfast twice.

Heater was stuck on 75, could not get anything lower when the ambient temp was 40!!!! The hallways were easily 80 degrees and the restaurant was very short staffed- however! The restaurant manager was AMAZING and he was taking care of all of the customers like I haven't seen before! Bravo for taking charge of a difficult situation and making our experience awesome! Thank you!

Do not stay on the 4th floor (mezzanine) during winter unless you like your room extra hot. We had a room on the 4th floor that was 82 degrees and the heater was on. We moved rooms immediately.

Big Bear VW Takeover

Enjoyed the large suite with jacuzzi tub and fireplace. The balcony overlooking the pool was nice. Service was exceptional and everyonw was pleasant. Will return again.

The property is old. There are not enough staff. They do not explain how the breakfast works. First day the waiter was telling me that is a set menu of very few options a la carte and not buffet style. He recommends we order from the menu and deducts 12 per person adult only. Was never told until the second day that kids eat free so after paying for the breakfast on the hotel site I end up paying $50 out of pocket for two kids meals and two adults. Second day was Sunday and since it was brunch the credit would be applied and had to pay a bit to cover for the difference. Also on the second day the AC was not working and the room was so hot! It was78 degrees and the engineer could not fix it. Had to get a fan and open the little crack in the windows that was allowed to cool down the room. By midnight temp was 60 degrees and we woke up freezing so now we had to turn on the heather. Overall I would not return to his hotel because for the price that I paid for 2 nights I have stayed at much better places. Also, in the lobby they have free coffe and tea. It was a hit and miss. Many times coffee was out and hot water was lukewarm. Overral the hotel is close to everything and we were able to walk everywhere instead of driving. Location is great but not the rest. Also if you are disabled you have to go down 10 steps to get to the first floor and then the elevator works to go to second and third but you have to physically bring down all your luggage and no help.
