Definitely rated higher than it should be. We moved rooms due to the fact that my daughters broke out in a rash. The chairs were ripped the carpet was missing in some areas. The linens had hair from other people. Definitely not staying there again.

The hotel itself was great. Beautiful, we got rooms side by side with a harbor view. The check in process took longer than necessary. The staff didn't seem to know what to do or how to do it. She must have been in training. Who knows, she didn't allude to this, but her actions did. My issue with the hotel is this and beware. We order take out from the lounge. We got the bill, I signed the receipt, charged it to my room, 589, and didn't think anything of it. When I looked at my credit card statement, the bar tender changed the $22 tip to a $72 tip. I have called several times to "discuss" this matter. I have been hung up on, I have been placed on an endless hold and my voice mails have NOT been returned. I thought The Hilton was a semi upscale hotel, boy was I wrong. I will never stay with this franchisee again, and I travel often. I am sure I am not the only customer this has happened to.

Spent a quick three nights down in San Diego at the Homewood Suites by Hilton San Diego/Bayside with the wife and kids. The two bedroom suite was the perfect size for our family of 5 as it offered a two queen bedroom and a single king bedroom. The suite was equipped with a decent sized kitchen area and full-sized refrigerator. The property was quite modern and offered free breakfast as part of the stay. Overall, the bedding was fairly comfortable and we were provided an adequate number of towels. Upon closer inspection, the room could have used a bit more TLC though. There were some USB ports in the room that were damaged (unusable), a loud refrigerator, a sketchy lock on the sliding bathroom door, as well as a well worn sleeper sofa that could have benefited from a couple of pillows to make the room a bit more inviting. Overall, the room appeared clean, but the dark carpeting and dark woods overall probably help to hide any stains. I think the biggest complaint would be the lack of any onsite parking at the property and the requirement to use their valet ($60/night) if you have a car. However, the property's close proximity to Little Italy was a real plus. You could easily walk to a bunch of nice restaurants in the area as well as the Farmer's Market they hold there every Wednesday and Saturday. We would stay there again despite the aforementioned issues.

The hotel was a great choice for our weekend trip in San Diego, walking distance to lots of places and restaurants.. felt safe at all times and staff were very friendly and welcoming. Kitchen is a plus!!

All workers were nice and the property is clean. To improve, I suggest adding more variety to the breakfast menu. We were there for a total of 5 days and they had the same lukewarm/cold and nasty breakfast every day. 2nd, it is very misleading to list indoor pool, when you guys only have an outdoor pool that is halfway covered. Additionally it is not heated properly. We were shivering while in the pool.

My family and I plus our dog had a good time. The staff were excellent, the breakfast was good and had healthy choices. My only complaint is the sofa in our 1 bedroom suite wasn't really a sofa bed and it was not comfortable either. Good thing we had 2 Queen beds in our room. Besides that our stay was good.
