the property is very unique and reminds me of a boutique hotel. the staff was very friendly and check in was very easy. the amenities inside the room was above average and the cost was very reasonable for the night.

We made a reservation in advance and paid in advance at the El Capitan Hotel so as not to encounter any problems on the day our son was getting married, which was a very important date for us. Unfortunately, when we arrived to take the room as planned, the reservation had been canceled. It was a horrible and embarrassing experience, because we were far from home and tired and had no room to rest. Furthermore, the staff informed us that our room had not only been canceled but was occupied by someone else. So, given this, I ask: Is it normal to rent a room for 2 people at the same time? Is this an accepted and correct rule of the hotel? How is it possible to make a sale for 2 people at the same time? This happened because we did not show up on the day and time of the reservation, but whether I showed up or not, the room was obliged to be available for me, because I paid for it. Furthermore, I was unable to check in online, and I also did not understand why. It was a very bad and unpleasant experience, we were simply forced to look for another hotel with the help of the staff, since we didn't know the city, much less the quality hotels. I didn't like the hotel's policy.

This is a great place to stay in Merced. The hotel is very nice; boutique style hotel. The staff is excellent. Restaurants on site are very nice.
