I wanted to love our stay at The Sterling so much more. It’s a beautiful property and the rooms are giant and gorgeous, but the lack of upkeep was really apparent.
In our first floor room, the 2 upholstered armchairs by the window were both stained, one with a 10” stain right in the center of the seat. One of the lace drapes from our bay windows was missing. And the jacuzzi was giant and generally clean, but was cracked and the jet nozzles looked concerning enough where I didn’t necessarily trust it to be a hygienic experience if we were to use the jacuzzi feature. In the common area, there was a water machine, but it didn’t work. So we ended up just filling our water bottles from the tap.
We had a self check-in experience with a digital key on our phone, which was really convenient, though we didn’t see a single person during our stay. So there was no receptionist or anyone from the hotel staff on the property, day or night. It was an extremely quiet stay, as we didn’t see or hear any sign or anyone else being in the hotel with us the whole time we were there. The quietness and the comfort of the bed made for great sleeping conditions, though the light from the always-lit parking lot adjacent to our room made it very difficult to get sleep because it pierced right through the drapes.
Iprobably wouldn’t stay here again in the future, as I just expected so much more from a hotel stay experience. It’s a bummer, though, because this place has so much potential.
