For a cheap hotel, Hotel Chrome was fabtastic. The hotel was not dirty, the room was clean, the building and rooms looked modern and not rundown. Staff was polite and helpful. WIFI worked perfectly. The shower got steaming hot very fast and the water pressure was excellent. The hotel served its purpose to provide adequate lodging so we could spend more money and time out in the city of Montréal!

Loud construction began at 5:30 am
Room had nice new floors and a renovated bathroom. Still shabby in various ways. Main problem is that major construction at property next door began at 5:30 am and it was difficult to sleep much after that.

Very old hotel with old window. We could not sleep hearing the police car, fire truck and garbage collectors started at 6:30am. Old mattress that needed to be replaced a couple of years ago. I woke up with back pain.

Where to start… there is a construction site right next to the hotel (which was NOT mentioned in the website), and work starts at 7h00 sharp (even on Saturday). The hotel is clean but old and in bad shape. Emergency lights in the elevator was broken (in both elevators) and the lobby is not as shown in the Expedia website. Upon arrival the receptionist made a photocopy of my id and credit card and said it was standard policy and could not explain why. The room was “sinking” so nothing was even (drawers from dresser will only open in pairs). The fridge was unplugged and smelly and there were no electrical outlets near the bed. The pillows were hard and we were unable to change (however they promised to do so). In summary, it was a bad experience and Expedia could not do anything to help. This is our first bad experience with an hotel picked from Expedia and we cannot understand how our experience could have been so different from recent guests… we really hope that others do not have the same bad experience and have a ruined weekend in Montreal due to all the issues listed above.

The room was very old and wasn’t too clean. Customer service was also lacking. One front desk person was even rude. But it was cheap and we only stayed there to sleep after a long day of touring Montreal. So it served its purpose. I’d still recommend it to those who are looking for a cheap place to stay. Just manage your expectations.
