Overall good experience.
Overall it was good. The bed was confortable. The pool and hot tub looked clean although we didn't get to use it this time. Too cold for our toddler. The mini fridge was not working but we were able to get ice from the ice machine and kept our stuff cool in our cooler. They offered a day pass to the near golds gym. That was great but with a toddler it makes it a little harder to get away. I use the gym most of the time if its on site. (Great option though for peopleb that wouldnt mind driving to the gym)The breakfast was ok. They had a variety of item but ALL carbohydrates. I would have given them a 5 starts if the breakfast offered a little of protein like eggs and sausages. We will definitely consider coming back here.

Pleasantly Surprised
After I booked with Hotels.com I did a deeper dive into reviews and when I came across several negative reviews I seriously considered canceling my reservation. I’m happy I didn’t. The property itself is and older building that’s been remodeled with lots of modern updates/ touches. Our double room was very clean, extremely spacious with comfy beds, its own patio , fireplace, free covered parking, and other amenities (mini frig , microwave and complimentary continental breakfast). There are lots of little outdoor lounging areas throughout the property to enjoy on nice days/ nights. The location is perfect with easy freeway access, close proximity to other hotels, eateries, Mall, Whole Foods and everything that Monterey has to offer.Jennifer and the rest of the Mariposa Inn & Suites staff were friendly & accommodating. I’d definitely make future bookings with Hotels.com for Mariposa Inn & Suites.

The location of hotel is good for going around the surrounding attractions. A nice small hotel but not easy to find the hotel entrance. The breakfast is not as nice as they showed on the website. No room cleaning unless requested. The parking lot underneath the hotel rooms is dark but the parking lot is in the hotel property. So, it's easy to park and safe for the guests.

Surprised to see the property is in good repaired, clean, very clean. Appreciated the extra Towel Folding Art that someone apparently loves the housekeeping job had put some effort and love to make us so welcomed. Loved the working gas fireplace in the room. Will come back for sure.

There were several issues with this hotel. Starting with checking in. We called and confirmed the night before for an early check in, but upon arrival (1pm) we were told that our room wouldn’t be ready. After being allowed to check in at 4pm, we were then informed The elevators were not operating and we had a room on the second floor and would have to use stairs for the whole stay. When we got in the from we noticed the water coming out the sink had a white sediment in it, making the water unusable. This was fueled my disappointment furthers after I saw that the bathroom was covered in ants coming from underneath the bathtub and light switch. On the first night I went to the front desk to complain about our room but no one there. The following day I was able to speak someone about the ants, but after after someone supposedly came in and sprayed, and never cleaned the dead ants off the floor up they continued to show up. If you decide to stay here book a room on the Third floor. As being on the second floor, we heard every movement from our neighbors above us at all hours the evening.i would advise no one stay here

This hotel is of very poor quality. The room was smelly and dirty. The bed rest was town and old. The air condition did not work. There was a lot of noise coming from the street. The water in the bathroom sink only had hot water. This hotel looks like a cheap motel. The receptionist at the front desk had a bad attitude. aThis hotel should a one star at best. I will never stay here again.

Wouldn’t recommend. We have 3 kids all 4 and under, when we arrived at 11pm there wasn’t anyone in the office just a sign that said they would be right back without any time noted. 30 min later the man attending the office shows up with no explanation or apology. Then we got into the room and finally got all our kids to sleep, I went to use the bathroom and the water wasn’t working properly in the upstairs bathroom of our room. The second day we got back from the beach and the water was off to the whole hotel because of a water pipe break. Kids were so sandy and tired so we went to the pool. The pool was not clean at all. Looks like it hadn’t been cleaned in 10 years. Then for the finale, the there was road work being don’t from 1-5am and they were jackhammering on and off all night. I understand that the road work and water issues were no fault of the hotel but there wasn’t any notice or apology for the inconvenience. Hate to give such a harsh review but for what we paid I would have hoped for much better quality. If we hadn’t gotten in so late we would have left when we the attendant left us waiting for half an hour.

Upon arrival the elevator was broken thus making multiple trips to the car. Asked front desk for extra towels, utensil's and a bottle opener all of which I had to go downstairs to retrieve. They were however generous with a late check out. I don’t know if I would stay here again
