It is a good hotel in a very good location but the heat in the room was unbearable. It seems like it was central heating; we could not regulate it in the room. Even with windows open, it was incredibly hot in the room.

Extremely gracious staff! The lobby is beautiful and you can’t beat the location. It’s like 15 steps to Lincoln Center. Had a very cozy stay. Will come again for the next ballet or opera I attend.

The lobby wss festive and beautiful. The staff were friendly and professional. The rooms and corridors were tired and outdated. Not enough hangers for two women. No kettle for a morning beverage. Wash cloths were not re-stocked with the towels

Second time staying at this property but sad to say I won’t be back, the lobby smelled horrible, as soon as you walk in you can smell like wet carpet or something of that sort, the mezzanine was extremely hot. Staff were friendly and kind but does not balance out the conditions of the hotel, my tub was peeling off, I asked housekeeping to not clean my room and they still did it, I had left things out I didn’t want them to move, I don’t care for room inspections, but If I requested to not clean the room, why would they? I cant emphasize enough the bad smell the lobby had, that is the main reason I won’t be back, so much potential but feels neglected.

The property transports you to a time when NY was the epitome of high society. Wonderful rooftop bar and restaurant. Friendly accommodating staff. Perfect for a few nights stay when catching an opera at Lincoln Center. Bathrooms in standard room are a bit on the small side and valet takes 30-40 minutes to retrieve vehicle so plan accordingly.

I checked in late (around midnight) on Christmas, and the gentleman at the front desk couldn't have been kinder or more professional. I felt very taken care of and a true rapport. The hotel is lucky to have such a personable, thoughtful, kind representative.

Stains on the bedding and pillows. Stains on the floor. Broken window shades. Hallway was so dark I needed to use my phone flashlight to access the key slot for my room. And the staff was unapologetic about any of it. The sofa bed was horrible- you could feel the coils. Elevator smelled of sewer. Room service took 20-30 for extra bed sheets, and didn’t supply us with specified sheets when asked. Sheets were torn on top of it. And I’m still waiting for the blanket duvet. After all of this, only $45 were taken off of a $600 bill. Location can’t be beat though.

We stayed for 2 nights as a family. The location is great and the people are very nice. I expected more for the price we paid, but it is New York and everything is expensive. The only issues we had were waiting hours for extra blankets and the AC/Heat unit wasn't working properly. I did not bring this up to the hotel staff so I am not sure if they could or would have fixed it for us; we just dealt with it as it wasn't that much of an issue.

Everyone was friendly, nice welcoming. Only small complaint is that there is No Coffee anywhere in the hotel. Beautiful lobby could handle a coffee station if they don't want to install in rooms. We had to go out anytime we needed a cup.

A hotel with a greate potential
The Empire Hotel is very well located, with everything one needs on a vacation trip to New York nearby, good stores, supermarkets, subway station, Central Park, Lincoln Center. The staff was friendly and helpful. But, on the other hand, the hotel in general is not in a good state of cleanliness, especially the common areas, dirty elevators, papers on the floor of the hotel lobby, the lobby has a strange smell like wet clothes without proper drying, the rooms are already somewhat old. A four-star hotel with all the potential to be a great hotel, but it was beaten by years of operation and today leaves much to be desired.
