The area is flooded with unhoused people screaming out loud and threatening others. The hotel room floor was EXTREMELY dirty, the bottom of my feet turned black after a couple steps. There was a black stain on the bath towel and a hole in the bed sheet. There was spilled popcorn in the hallway that stayed overnight and was there when I checked out (earlier than originally reserved). The receptionist was unapologetic and inconsiderate when addressed with my concerns.

We stayed 4 nights and online the photos looked promising. But, downtown Honolulu is extremely dirty and feels unsafe, especially as a woman staying there. There is constant security which makes you understand how unsafe it is. So many drug addicts and homeless lying around the hotel. We were scared of getting out of our car. We were on the 35th floor, which was quiet. Nice view of ocean was blocked by buildings. Room cleaning every 3 days…I guess you get what you pay for… Amenities are low to none. Only positive is nice/helpful staff and being away from Waikīkī congestion/noise. Overall, would not stay again!

The stay was terrible!!! EVER AGAIN WILL WE BOOK AT ROOM HERE AT THIS PLACE!!! Walked in and it smelt like cigarette's and cigars!!! Roaches on the kitchen counter!!! Hair all stuck on the blow dryer!!! No hot water!!! Tub was backing up while showering!!!! Not enough towels!!!! Sheets were dirty and stink!!!! Tv was broken in living room!!! Worst experience ever!!! Downstairs out front was ghetto people yelling lots of homeless!!! Someone stole our phone and left it in the lobby after they realized it was locked…

The hotel was beautiful and in a convenient location. Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Our issues were with the room. Definitely outdated decor and did not look like the photo advertised. Mirror on the bedroom wall was dirty and bathroom shower was not washed down, as there were numerous hairs in it. The shower took over 5 minutes to get hot. Aside from those issues, it was a decent stay and had a very pretty view of the harbor from the room.

The good: We arrived at Aston from an international arrival in the morning. The hotel staff were very accomodating, they not only allowed us to check in early, they also upgraded us to a suite. Our 1 bedroom suite was huge, and even had washer and dryer, which we took advantage of. Location was excellent, there is a 7eleven and Paris Baguette downstairs, Chinatown is a quick 10minute walk which had so many good choices for lunch and dinner. The not so good: Aston is dated, which was not a problem for us. There is dust on the surfaces of furnitures and dust bunnies by baseboards. The cleaning crew really needs to do a better job. Location is away from the touristy beach area, which worked for us, but if you are in for the sunset and beach this is not the hotel for you. The walk to and from Chinatown was quick however there are homeless people camped out which makes me feel uneasy at night. Overall, it's good value for us since we were only transiting and staying a short one night. Its closer to the airport than hotels in popular Waikiki. We would consider staying again for transiting trips. For vacationing, I'd definitely stay elsewhere.
