Room was great for a family! It was pretty annoying that you’d have to give your room card every time you ordered a drink at the swim up bar or restaurant. Service was very slow so we ended up waiting a long time each time to get are key card back. If they’d remove the card issue the resort would have been a lot better.

We just returned from the RS on Saturday April 12 after a 7-night stay in an ocean front 1-bedroom deluxe suite. Now before I go into this review, I'll say that your experience is going to be decided by your expectations before you arrive. We have been to 7 or 8 resorts in Cancun from the top down to the bottom, so we know what we like and what's value for money. This place is fantastic. No you don't get a grand marble entrance / reception area but it's nice and very clean. The food is VERY GOOD for all inclusive. Especially the room service and the food from the pool bar. The shrimp tacos are the best I've ever had. The phase 1 pool is massive, plenty of room for everyone during our stay. The beach is beautiful, lovely white sandy beach with 3-400 feet of turquoise water in front of you. Drinks service to the beach was as good as around the pool, it helps if you drop them a $20 right off the bat. The servers are very friendly and very willing to help with any request. The buffet has a decent selection of food, very tasty. It is a bit dated in decor, but I don't see the value in paying more for fancy stuff I'm looking at for 15-20 mins a day. The food is good, that's what matters. We have already booked to go back in August this year and will probably make this our new vacation spot for the foreseeable future. Finally, it's not a Hyatt Zilara, not many are, so if you want the top end with all the frills you'll be disappointed. This is a SOLID resort when others are not.

In my opinion since holiday inn took over this property it has gone down hill. The food selection is limited now and what was once an all inclusive has changed. There are surcharges for many things now have been coming to the royal sands for many years but I think I will try another hotel on my next trip here.

I like that is very closed to public transportation. They could definitely work on their customer service at check in, we were not told of the services they had nor that we had a dedicated concierge. I was told that I wasn’t going to move to a different room I was moved!! In my opinion the resort is more for retirees than for families, there is no music or events after 8:00 PM.

We had a party of 6 all with varying vacation requirements. The resort met all of our needs from plenty of lounge chairs (both beach and pool side), to activities, to food choices. The best part of the resort was the staff, everywhere within the resort the hospitality and service was impeccable. The worst was the entitlement and general rudeness exhibited by some of the guests. The resort is definitely family oriented so if you're more interested in a romantic couple's get away, keep that in mind. As a party of 6, it was not an issue for us.

The place and amenities are very good. My only qualm about it is the the laveranda breakfast and lunch buffet. The meals are the same everyday and there are no variations. It feels limited. There is also lack of coffee and latte options.

It was a very nice stay. We really enjoyed the great attentiveness and hospitality provided to us by all members of the staff. We really felt at home and cared for. One suggestion would be to perhaps have smart TVs in the rooms for a better experience when winding down. Other than that an excellent place and we will for sure be coming back!

Overall, we had a great stay & the room had the best view of the beach! The rooms are a bit outdated and could use an update. The tubs was rusting and shower curtains had some discolouration. The bed covers were brown and not very soft, we had to switch them out with the softer comforters. Mar took care of us by booking our restaurants and answering questions we had. Our cleaner Veronica did a great job cleaning our suite and was very friendly. Oliver took very good care of us at the beach delivering our drinks and food orders. The only thing I wish they had was 24 hour bar service somewhere on the resort. Went for a bachelorette party so we probably should’ve done some research, but the resort is along the Main Street with many bars and restaurants. It’s a timeshare hotel so there were many retired couples and groups when we arrived. Not much of a party resort, but more of a relaxing resort. There weren’t many young people, but we made the most of it since we were a larger group. Overall it was 8/10 :)

We loved our stay. Property was beautiful and clean. Staff were kind and fun! Frieda was awesome at bringing the fun bingo games! All staff service with a smile not one rude person! Food was excellent. The Mexican show was great! Our room was so beautiful hands down the most beautiful room and view I have ever experienced. We took our teenage kids this time. It was safe for them to go on resort by themselves. If you go here you have to get your beach chairs early as they will all get reserved. Jose on the beach chair assignments was great we loved him! They have the best life guard they called him Agua Man and he made sure all people on the beach were safe! Our host upon arrival was Oscar he treated us like royalty we loved him! Kids felt like royalty each night with free room service and chocolate cake! Overall such a positive experience! Go and see this place and these people! We will never forget the hospitality and the kindness and outstanding service! Thank you Royal Sands!

We did all inclusive and felt like the food and service were fine - nothing was horrible and nothing was great. The facilities were great for a large group with small kids but not sure the rest of the package was worth it. Plus they do make you change rooms on Saturdays, which is annoying. Beaches were beautiful. I think we’d try somewhere else next time.
