Initially we were really bothered that the hotel/resort was NOT on the beach. When I inquired this with staff, they acknowledged they use photos from their sister resort for their website. EXTREMELY disappointed. Tried to communicate w Travelocity and nothing was resolved. It was a 8-9 minute walk to the beach everyday. RIU Tequila itself was nice/average. Staff was wonderful and there was entertainment at RIU Tequila. Downside was the bathroom in the rooms did not have a door which meant I would have to leave the room for my teenage kids to shower and they had to do the same. Not very accommodating at all.

It rained a few days, some heavy rain downpours, it would help if RIU provided golf cart shuttle services during rain downpours. Vacation guests were walking fast/running with umbrellas, this situation can become hazardous, guests can trip and fall on property.

I travel with all my family 6 days vacations. I gave 5 rating on Cleanliness, staff service and location. The food was good but they need to change the variety from the buffet, because it basically was almost the same kind of food every day. They also need to provide transportation to go to the other RIU resorts that you can share,because it's a long walk to go from one resort to another. If you stay on Riu Tequila, you need to take a golf cart to go to the beach and it only operates from 8:am to 6: pm. I will suggest to expand the hours of operations for the cart from 7 to 7 instead.

We took a friend trip here October 9-13, we had a blast. So much fun stuff to do everyday at the resort, definitely recommend the neon/white party on Fridays and the foam party on Thursdays. Would definitely go back, we felt very safe there. We did have to contact the front desk the first night because our room was so hot and the AC wasn’t working but the maintenance guy came and fixed it, never had an issue after that. All around great experience, most of the staff speak English, lots of food options, I expected a little more authentic Mexican food but definitely options for all taste buds.

Very satisfied with the service of William, Aberardo, Jeremias and Felix. Everyone works very hard and I hope management appreciates their hard work. The lady that checked us in was terrible didn’t explain absolutely anything about the hotel. She definitely doesn’t like her job I would not have her in that position. Over all I like this hotel and hope to return soon 😊.

Fun place with lots of activity. Good god. We are at the Italian restaurant, Asian, and Mexican. All great food. Buffet had anything and everything you could want. Beautiful lobby and bar area. Pools were great. Beach is a short walk down a beautiful path or you can get a ride in golf cart. Beautiful palms trees at beach and water was perfect. Very close to Fifth Avenue shopping and Cozumel ferry.
