I stayed at Auberge Saint Louis for the duration of my trip in Quebec City. This auberge is perfectly located if you are planning on doing any of the local tours as most pick up locations are within a 5-10 minute walk.
There are endless choices for cafes and bistro within minutes walking. There is also an affordable epicarie (Richard's Epicarie) just around the corner for snacks and basic grocery needs.
The auberge is full of charm. It is an older building but I found it easy enough to navigate. Yes the stairs are unique but common for the style of building. There are helpful railings if you feel unsteady. I would recommend requesting the lower floor rooms if you have serious mobility issues.
My room was comfortable and clean. The view from my window was cute and bright looking over some beautiful architecture. The tempature was easy to adjust and there were extra blankets for warmth. The shared bathroom was very clean and the hot showers were wonderful at the end of each day.
There is a kettle, microwave and fridge to use as well.
All the staff were warm and welcoming. My train was extremely delayed causing me to arrive nearer to midnight. They were able to accommodate me with a lock box code for my room key to ensure I could still check in to my room after hours. I am so appreciative of this effort, it melted away all of my anxiety for such a late arrival in a new city traveling alone.
I would book here again if I come back for another visit to Quebec City.
This hotel was located as close to old quebec as you can get. We were 300 yards away from the iconic Fairmont hotel and lots of restaurant options. Parking was in a parking garage at 20 per night. no elevator but we didnt need one. Only draw back was for our room we had a shared bathroom and in the morning there was a bit of a waiting but not long. The price was on point but the location was the best thing. def recommend if you need budget friendly option and are not picky.
Right in the middle of old Quebec City a stone’s throw from the hotel frontenac and all of the history of this beautiful city. Really good value for the price. Located in a historic building that has kept much of its charm. Quiet. No elevator. Bathroom down the hall. Excellent fellow travellers in the city before boarding 1 of the many cruise ships. Will definitely book again

Location was great! Staff were very kind and did their best to provide earlier checkin. The building is quite old. The stairs were slanted and the bathroom was not as clean. I am not sure why our room was for four people because the sofa bed could not fit two people on it.
This property is basically a hostel with minimum facilities. There are no elevators but the desk person was nice enough to give us a hand hauling our bags to the 2nd floor. We had the "large" double room for the 3 of us, and it had an ensuite. Many rooms share the hallway washroom. Note that our ensuite was only 1m wide but the tiny tub/shower worked just fine. If you can manage stairs, then the location can't be beaten.

Clean and comfortable room. Wood or composite floors in rooms so no carpet odors. Excellent location. Carpets in common areas shabby but didn’t affect our stay.
This was exactly what I was looking for in Old Quebec City. Not a sterile, cookie-cutter franchise inconveniently located away from this historical area. There are concessions to be made however. No elevators combined with narrow, winding stairs make for hauling heavy luggage difficult. Don't expect staff to assist either. This property, while clean, needed painting in the public areas and some carpet replacement. These are not deal breakers for me because the cost was exceptional for the location. Highly recommended if luggage is not going to be a problem. AND exellent restaurants close by.

The rooms and shared bathroom were very clean. The building itself inside (carpets etc.) defnitely need some work. The 'free ice' was a couple of small ice trays on the top shelf of the communal fridge! And we had to request paper cups for our instant coffee. BUT the location is perfect, right on the main drag to the Chateau Frontenac. And the (paid) parking is just across the street. I would stay there again for the convenience.

Nice little Hotel with narrow stairs and no lift. Shared toilet with many other rooms was inconvenient.

Parking is awkward. There's a parking ramp available for $20 but not really anywhere to stop with a car to get checked in to get the card to use the ramp.
