I honestly hate leaving bad reviews, but sometimes it has to be done. First the room. It smelled so badly, like chemicals and very strong. We made a complaint and was told it's too late to move to another room. That's fine, but then nothing was done to remedy that. Second, the shower was not working and when we tried to make a call to the front desk and the phone was not working either. That was fixed, only for the shower to again not work when we tried to use it again (the top half was not working). We made due with the bottom half of it. Lastly that pool bar. The odor that comes from there is toxic. You could not sit at the bar without it engulfing you. I will say though that the staff was amazing. That is probably the only reason i would give the resort a few stars. This was my first and last stay at the Riu Las Americas.

Rooms were clean, maid service very good. Chocolate cake at coffee bar excellent. Coffee is hard to get at breakfast, lines always too long. Room service is very poor, options limited. Dining options limited, strictly Italian buffet lunch 12-4pm and dinner time options from 6-10pm. Any other hours, terrible, low options. Bars typical, not many top shelf options. Will likely not stay here again, good hotel for a basic vacation.

Absolutely first class experience at this resort. Very friendly, attentive, hard working staff. The resort was very clean and neat. Specialty restaurants were amazing dining experiences, especially the Japanese and Italian. Even the buffet was terrific with its variety and quality. Beach was so nice with the soft white sand and clear water. We definitely would stay here again. Gracias! 😃👍
