Very clean, although both showers could could use fresh caulking...what looks like mold around the shower edges was not very appealing for this property. Appears that there was water damage to the baseboard near the shower.

Sonder Penny Lane - a little gem
Sonder Penny Lane Room 605 was spacious, comfortable and met our needs for our stay in Montreal. If there was one concern is the lack of net curtains - the courtyard is very small and other apartments can see in.

The stay was good. The process to get through the sign up, credit card and drivers license was tedious but I understand. The initial code provided to enter the suite did not work and I needed to call support for a new number. This went well as they accepted the call immediately and a new code was given and I was able to access the room. The room was ok but question is it up to Sonder level as the closet door in the bedroom is broken, the shower head holder is broken and the shampoo, conditioner and body soap was hard to access. No TV either so to watch local news or maybe a Euro Cup reply was not easy and again with the price paid for the room I would have thought that amenity would be included. It was fine. Clean and quiet. Another person in same building could not get into their Sonder unit because keypad on door was not working. When it works it works. But if it doesn’t work, not sure how the process works as this is a virtual rental company with no staff onsite. No issue with my unit but plan to stay at the hotel next time to make sure I can get into my unit.

The apartment is in a great location, the esthetic choices are nice, and it was well stocked. The automated check in etc worked fine. It wasn’t the same layout or set up (brick walls etc) as the picture, and felt a bit smaller and squeezed with all the furniture in it. There is peeling paint in the wall behind the bed and water damage on the bathroom baseboard and the little table is very scratched up. The TV is chromecast only, so beware if you are not Canadian because we couldn’t play our services in another country, so we bought a movie, but the internet was too slow to cast it (played fine in the computer). The curtains don’t close fully, so it’s light at night and there was someone looking in from across the street while we were cooking. The listing says there is street noise, and they provide a sound machine and earplugs. For us, it was not the city sounds that disturbed us, but the garbage trucks and smashing glass that happened several times each night, including at 5 am. I like the idea of Sonder, and might try another apartment in this building on a higher floor and if it was updated. We did not reach out to Sonder about any of the issues while we were there - I realize they might have moved us if we had, but we just chose to go on with our vacation and not focus on it.
