The location of the hotel is great. Right in the middle of Old Montreal. Unfortunately with all the emails we received prior to our visit no one seemed to think informing us it was under construction was relevant. The desk service seemed to be constantly pre-occupied instead of greeting people as they arrived. Thats not to say they were rude, but not attentive to customers as they arrived. The concierge however was great. One of the biggest disappointments was Mama C their restaurant. It has lost all its cozy appeal to be replaced by lots of mirrors which reflects and amplifies noise to the point I had to yell to my wife 2 feet in front of me to have a conversation. Their managerial staff seems to have no idea what is going on around them and no one pays attention to you, except if you are ordering lots of bottles of wine. This didnt happen once, but twice with different managers. The other issue is that the rooms were/are poorly designed. Fortunately Im quite fit as anyone even slightly overweight would not be able to get in and out of their showers as the doors only open about18 inches due to the toilet being positioned in front of the shower entrance. So sad to say after staying here many times we will try another venue next time around.

Hotel Nelligan is such a gem and was a perfect location for our family of four's trip to Montreal. Easy valet parking, very pleasant staff, a free upgrade to our room, the staff loaded our bags into our valeted vehicle for us while we continued to stroll around Montréal for another couple of hours. Located right in the heart of Old Montréal, on cobblestone streets, surrounded by great food and shopping, only a 5 minute walk to the Notre-Dame Basilica. The hotel is as nice inside as it appears in the photos online. I would absolutely stay here again!

Good experience overall! The bedroom and bathroom were beautiful. The bed & pillows were super comfortable. Location was great! A few surprises after coming from an excellent 3 night stay in Old Quebec City. 1) FYI - If you have a bit of luggage ask for help. The Valet helped load our luggage onto a cart. We thought we could take it from there. Took the elevator to 4th floor but each floor has extra stairs. You can only take the cart so far and then run back and forth to get your luggage to your room. 2) There was no carpet in our room. Upon entry there was no matt keep wet foot attire. We grabbed the white bath matt which was all we could find to use. 3) There was no bench to set suitcases on inside the door nor to sit on while taking shoes on or off. We weren't sure where to go with shoes or suitcases. 3) We were excited they had a Nespresso machine with pods but after running off a coffee the first night we discovered there were no milks or creamers in their mini-fridge. We had to call room service and by the time they delivered milk & cream in pottery jars my coffee was cold with no way to heat it. This could totally be avoided by anticipating customer needs & adding a few creamers & milk to the mini-fridge. 4.) In the lobby, they offered Nespresso coffee also with no milk or cream out. The excuse was it might spoil but just put some on ICE to avoid customers having to take the extra step to ask. Otherwise great experience. Great food at their Steakhouse restaurant.
