I would recommend the Lord Elgin for a short stay in Ottawa. It's a very comfortable, safe & clean hotel within reasonable walking distance of most of the city centre attractions. It is showing its age in a few areas, so it's not in the top league of hotels. But if you want and affordable and convenient hotel in central Ottawa, it is a very good choice.

Decent hotel and room. For extended stays however the restaurant has really gone downhill. Bad breakfast / pub food for dinner. Would not return if im in for more than a night.

Location was perfect! Ask for the street side view: Confederation Park is a nice view. We loved thst most areas we wanted to visit were in walking distance (we're willing to walk 2 miles or more). We were there over winter snd found Ottawa to have wonderful holiday lighting allover. We plan to return. We dif order salads at the Lord Elgin restaurant and were a little disappointed. Otherwise, i would recommend everyone to stay at this hotel. Their exercise area is decent, too!

Proximity to the NAC is the biggest plus for us. There were other guests who came to skate on the Rideau Canal who appreciated the convenient location to the canal. We enjoyed breakfast and dinner at the hotel ‘s restaurant. The valet parking was friendly and quick.

This hotel is very central for all the activities and sights around Ottawa. As well as very comfortable and clean rooms it has a restaurant with a good selection of dishes, wines and local beers. The staff are always welcoming and attentive.

The room was clean, bright and had modern upgrades. The pool was a little difficult to find with all the linen (?) carts crowded in the hall as soon as you got off the elevator. Staff was friendly and knowledgeable ofnthe surrounding area. We didnt eat at the restaurant duento a prior engagement but the lounge was beautifully decorated. Will recommend!

The staff were a pleasure and did everything the could and then some to ensure a lovely stay. We had a small complication (unrelated to the hotel) and a particular staff member (I did not get her name) went above and beyond to assist us and made things just that much better. We have a family “staycation” every year just before Christmas and have been going to the Chateau Laurier often then tried the Weston and then this time the Lord Elgin. It is safe to say we will be returning to this location annually at a minimum to continue to our tradition.
