The room we booked had the AC broken, so the hotel had put a very laid portable one to mitigate, but it would've been impossible to sleep with it. When asked the staff what to do, they did not provide an alternative (switching rooms, credit, etc). So we slept with the windows open, preferring to deal with the outside noise. Called Expedia, and even though they hadn't collected any money (this is a "pay at the hotel" property) they offered us. compensation.
Such a shame, cause otherwise it's a nice property.
