It is beautiful, it has a great location and friendly staff. What I didn't like was that it was a little noisy outside, there is a ship platform right beside the hotel that made a noise all day and it was harder to sleep.

I love this hotel. The staff - doorman are awesome and super friendly. We arrived and were given our room key. We headed up to have the key not work. I went down again and had the keys redone. Then went up again only to have the keys not work. I went down a third time and came up with the doorman who had our luggage. His key also didnt work. They have us another room but it was on the floor that allowed pets. Then there was dogs barking and I had to complain- And I am a dog lover. The hotel comped ua Each a drink. Given the inconvenience I think more could have been done to make up for the inconvenience especially given we were Celebrating a graduation and birthday. It was ok.

Location is close to water, shopping and restaurants. Staff is helpful, the bar and restaurant is stunning. CITY VIEW Room is clean and comfortable. No view at all. Window is frosted. Book this room if don’t plan on spending time in the room.

This is a beautiful and historic hotel that is located right in the heart of downtown Victoria. Stay here for the location, the excellent customer service, and the history. The only caveat is that, due to the age of the hotel, the rooms and the bathrooms, while beautiful appointed, are quite tiny. If that’s an issue for you, you may want to consider staying at one of the other hotels in downtown Victoria that are newer and visiting the Empress during the day or booking a reservation in the tea room.
