On Arrival upon entering the building it was extremely hot and humid, on top of that we waited an hour in line for check in, kids running all around and only 3 people assisting. The rooms were ok clean but small, very basic. Food and beverage were below par. RIU provides a large spread but most items were not very good. Our group dinned at 3 of the five restaurants, menu was very limited and just not good. The hours of the restaurants opened late closed early. Food looked delicious, but the taste was just not there. It’s quantity versus quality at the buffet and it was a disappointment. The alcohol was not good -bottom shelf dinks were watered down. Staff and customer service not good either. I would say most staff did not have smiles or not happy to serve you. The staff around the pool like to blow whistles and treat the environment as a child beach camp. The manager we spoke with about an incident was young and not well versed with managing, very unprofessional and directed you to the rules on the wall rather than assist with the issue. The only positive thing here was the entertainment at night. All the staff members involved were very happy uplifting, and it was a good show. Our group will not return again

This property was extremely cheap in every sense of the word. From its dinning and food options to the entertainment. There steak house was the worst I have ever been to with no air circulating. Never understood why they have fans on the property if half of the time they were off. The staff was rude and you could tell how unhappy they are in their current jobs. The room I paid extra to upgrade had a horrible smell of pipeline and Sewer. Entertainment was done to early and felt uncomfortable that most lights would be turned off after 11:30 pm . In other words you felt like you had no choice but to go back to your room. Worst experience in my opinion and my friends and family will not be going back.

Overall we had a wonderful 4 day stay at Riu Vallarta. All the staff were attentive and friendly, the room was spacious and clean, bartenders were fast & efficient, and it's hard to beat being right on the beach. the only thing that was left to be desired was the food. the buffest was very average and most of the food desperately needed seasoning as it was lacking in flavor. The Kulinarium and Steak House were by far the two best restaurants but still left something to be desired. All in all, we had a wonderful time and would reccomend Riu Vallarta to anyone looking for a good mid-level all-inclusive.

The steakhouse was very good. The other restaurants were good. The only thing that there were two restaurants were not open, so we We’re not able to try them 🙁 but everything else was nice. The entertainment was good, The pools and beach we’re good nice the Staff were great.

My family and i had a good time. It was my birthday weekend and them sending a small gift to my room was very thoughtful. The waitresses and waiters were very nice and on top of everything the best they could. I loved how close the beach was and the set up around it. I do have to say the rooms need better sheets and blankets and the pools were way too hot.
