I’ve stayed at RIU resorts before, but this one is by far the best. When we arrived in our room, we were greeted with balloons, desserts, champagne, and a charming note wishing us a happy anniversary. Housekeeping serviced our room daily and sometimes even twice a day. After enjoying the onsite entertainment—which the onsite entertainers work really hard for - we would return to find our room tidied again. I ordered from room service a few times, and there were no extra charges. We had the chance to try 4 out of the 5 specialty restaurants and the buffet, and the food was great with options for everyone. We enjoyed the Japanese & Steakhouse the most. The Gourmet & Italian restaurant were okay. The staff works incredibly hard and consistently checks to ensure guests have everything they need. Staying at the Palace gave us the added perk of being able to visit other RIU properties, which was a bonus. I plan to return with my entire family next year. Thank you, RIU and team, for your heartwarming hospitality!

We travelled for a family vacation with our immediate family and extended family. We were a party of 20 raining in age from 16 months to 65 years. This hotel was perfect for everyone! The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The property was large enough to have excellent amenities but totally walkable from room to dinner to pools to beach. Food was excellent and the staff at the hotel were amazing. The grounds were immaculate (pool area, beach, rooms, pool washrooms, restaurants were all super clean) The resort said they were sold out but it didn’t seem overcrowded or crazy busy. We were always able to find loungers by the pool with no problem Entertainment was great every evening and lots to keep busy with during the day as well. We loved being able to walk easily (by beach or street) to the shops in Playacar and also to Playa Del Carmen. The location was so perfect. Absolutely recommend this resort to anyone.

Needs to improve the quality and variety of food for a top hotel. The meat was dried, some of the desserts didn’t taste fresh and some vegetables over cooked. We have been in different high end hotels and the food was not as expected in this Riu Palace Riviera Maya. Other than that, everything was very nice.

Beautiful rooms and grounds. Layout a little odd for a family of 4 with the bathtub in the middle of the room and two beds pushed together then a cot added but the beds were comfortable. Dining was good. The only thing we wished for was more for the kids to do but that was our error in booking.
